SHREWSBURY, Massachusetts – Well it was weeks in the planning, but well worth it all, as Fox 25 brought it’s second Zip Trip of the year, here to our amazing hometown.  As everyone who knows me will attest, I’m more of a night owl, than an early bird, but for this town I love, it was well worth getting up at 5AM and heading down to the Donahue rowing center this morning to have a spot of coffee with some of my favorite people in all of Shrewsbury, all of us pacing around nervously waiting for our turn on camera.

We had so many amazing people out there this morning that it’s hard to know where to begin to name them…   The Shrewsbury Robotics Team came out in full force, along with the Oak Middle School relay for life squad, the great men and women of the 15-40 group, and the whole Spags and Hebert cotillions to name but a few.  The Shrewsbury Crew team was out finishing up their morning runs, as Meteorologist Cindy Fitzgibbons watched over us from 90 feet above in the bucket of the new Shrewsbury Fire Department ladder truck.

From Shrewsbury High School we had our Speech and Debate team, as well as our local sports legends John Murray and Ryan Stowe stop by for an interview, along with other representatives of the basketball, baseball and track teams.  Of course, what would an event in our town be without the always charming Karyn Polito there.  She was kind enough to meet with the film crew earlier in the week too, and did a phenomenal job showing them around town and helping to showcase the things that make this community the special place that we all know it is.  Our  State Rep, and new daddy, Matt Beaton came by for an interview, along with Babs Donahue, without whom we wouldn’t have our wonderful rowing center

The anchors who came out, Kim Carrigan and “VB” Goudie were delightful to work with, and really seemed to have as much fun as all of us locals.   I almost forgot to mention, the great production folks behind the scenes, Liz, Julie, and all the rest, that did just a spectacular job coming out and learning about our town to make sure that the operation went off without a hitch, and the local businesses like Dunkin Donuts who made sure we were all as caffeinated as possible from beginning to end.

All in all, one of the most fun mornings I’ve ever seen around here….   When can we do it again??
