Honoring Shrewsbury Massachusetts High School Students
SHREWSBURY, Massachusetts – Next to Commemoration night, there is no more amazing and inspiring evening than the Academic and Scholarship Awards Night, and tonight was no exception. The evening began, as always with the awarding of scholarships to seniors graduating next month. They are provided by generous benefactors, corporations, and families wishing to honor loved ones. Over 20 were given out this year, honoring students for outstanding academic achievements, particular anticipated fields of study, community service, and leadership.
Following the scholarships were the academic awards. Traditionally, these are presented by the department heads, and honor achievement in everything from Physics, Chemistry and Math, to Art, Language, History and Physical Education. We also had the issuance of 10 book awards, from schools such as Harvard, Dartmouth, Holy Cross, Smith, and a host of others.
The final set of awards for the evening were the Principals Leadership Awards, which this year were given to Patricia Ermilio, John McBride, Sara Pedersen, and Ryan Stowe.
When I have a moment, I’ll post a full list of all of the many, many honorees. For now, here’s a photo gallery of pics that I took this evening, so that moms and dads can print out a photo for their keepsake albums. I tried to get everyone, but if you don’t see one of your son or daughter, it’s only because they were hidden behind someone and I couldn’t get a shot.
Congratulations to all of the students and parents. Also, huge kudos to Greg Nevader and his entire staff in the guidance department, who consistently pull these things off flawlessly.
