SHREWSBURY, Massachusetts – Newly-elected State Representative Matt Beaton is excited to announce his committee assignments. For the 187th Legislative Session, Beaton has been appointed to the Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture, the Committee on Global Warming and Climate Change where he will be the minority ranking member, and the Committee on Mental Health and Substance Abuse.

“I’m looking forward to starting my work on these committees, particularly on Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture,” said Beaton. “My background and time spent exploring Massachusetts’ vast natural resources, has given me a strong understanding of the complexities of our environment.  I look forward to the opportunity to use my experiences to promote conservation in the Commonwealth in a fiscally responsible manner.”

Beaton, a Republican from Shrewsbury who represents the 11th Worcester District, is also a small business owner who runs Beaton Construction, which specializes in green technologies and residential energy efficiency solutions.

“With my educational background in environmental studies and my business acumen, I feel I will have the opportunity as a first term legislator to bring a unique perspective to future legislation that benefits all citizens of the Commonwealth.”
