SHREWSBURY, Massachusetts – Shrewsbury Oil Assistance Relief (SOAR) is nearly through the heating season, and we have held up very well.  To date we have helped over 100 Shrewsbury MA families with emergency oil deliveries, allowing people time to catch up financially with their oil deleiveries or bide time while they obtain assistance from other venues.  Once again our friends at Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services (SYFS) and the South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC) were able to jump right in and get people in need a more sustainable fix to their home heating needs.

SOAR has been a tremendous success for people in Shrewsbury.  All of your donations go directly to delivering oil to people in need.  Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services provides all of our Office Support at no cost, and through the generosity of Al’s Oil in Shrewsbury we pay wholesale pricing for our oil.  We have Zero Overhead.

When we started SOAR three years ago, the incredible generosity of our many donors and the success of our wine tasting allowed us to not pester you through three heating seasons.  We now are at below $5,000 in our account though and once again need your help.  Recent announcements from Washington that Home Heating Oil Assistance Programs are on the chopping block will only make our task more difficult next heating season.
