Shrewsbury MA war memorial information
SHREWSBURY, Massachusetts – As many know, there has been a concerted effort over the last few months to raise funds for the replacement of the deteriorated WWI memorial in front of Beal School. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our friends and neighbors here in Shrewsbury, the monument committee is well past the halfway point in donations, and has begun the first phases of the project. The old trees have no been removed, along with the decayed flag pole, and the new trees are waiting to be installed. Soon, you’ll see the work progressing on the removal of the existing structure, with the hope of completing the entire project in time for a dedication on Veterans Day.
They are still in need of about 50K in donations to get the project through to completion, and have rolled out today their brand new website, in the hopes that they can get each viewer to step up with even a ten dollar donation towards the project. You can check out the site at http://www.shreww1.org at your convenience, and learn more about this exciting way Shrewsbury plans to honor our veterans.
