SHREWSBURY, Massachusetts – Shrewsbury residents Spencer Stevens, Michaela Harrington, Pat Grady, and Matthew Todd are going “Down Under” this summer! The four high school students successfully completed a rigorous application process and earned the right to visit Australia as United States People to People Student Ambassadors. Their summer itinerary can be viewed here.
Student Ambassadors represent their school, community, state, and country while traveling abroad. President Dwight Eisenhower launched the People to People Student Ambassador program in 1956: “I have long believed, as have many before me, that peaceful relations between nations require mutual respect between individuals.”

The Shrewsbury contingent is planning several fundraisers this Spring to help raise money for their trip. This Friday evening, April 1st, the students have recruited a variety of musicians, actors, poets, and other performers for an intimate Coffeehouse performance at Liberty Church on Route 20. The details of the event are as follows:

Date: April 1st, 2011
Time: 7:00-9:00 PM. Raffle drawing will begin at 9:00PM.
Place: Liberty Church (lower parking lot)
495 Hartford Turnpike (Rt 20), Shrewsbury
Admission and Refreshments: FREE!!!
