Shrewsbury Paton School to build new playground
SHREWSBURY, Massachusetts – With the snow finally melted, for the most part, the outdoor projects have begun, and one of the first was the demolition of the old Paton School playground yesterday. According to Lorraine Daignault, Paton PTO President, they are beginning efforts as we speak to complete the replacement project and are looking for any residents willing to help out.
“We anticipate the cost of a new playground structure and swing sets to be approximately $50,000 or more.” said Lorraine. “Given the price and scope of the project, the Paton Playground Committee is gearing up for a multi-year project. In order to provide children with an outlet for play in the interim, the PTO is asking families and friends of Paton to donate new or gently-used playground equipment (balls, jump ropes, Chinese jump ropes, hula hoops, nylon equipment bags, etc.). Playground items are being collected in the Paton office. Anyone interested in helping Paton raise money for a the playground rebuild is invited to attend a Playground Fundraising Committee Meeting on Monday, March 21st at 7 p.m. in Room 3 at Paton.”
