Shrewsbury high school after prom part
SHREWSBURY, MA – Spring is here and with it comes the very exciting season of Proms. An event filled with many traditions, the date, the dress, the theme, the actual Prom itself. All of the components are filled with excitement and anticipation, both on the part of the students and the parents. The students are excited for the fun and memories they will create that evening, the parents are anticipating the safe arrival home of their kids.
Over the past several years at Shrewsbury High School the parents of the Junior class have gotten together to organize the After Prom party. This years event will take place at the Boroughs Branch of the YMCA from 11:30- to 5:00 am. Students are encouraged to leave the Prom and go directly to The Boroughs Branch to be in compliance with driving laws and to avoid alcohol and drug use. At the Boroughs the students will enjoy sports, music, games, food, prizes, entertainment and socializing in a relaxed alcohol/drug free environment.
This event is a non-profit activity and in order for it to be a success, we need the support of the families and the community. The student fee to attend is $30, money well spent if it means keeping the kids off the streets and in a safe environment. The event is open to all SHS Juniors even if they do not attend the prom. The SHS parents volunteer to spend part or all of the evening at the event to make sure it all goes smoothly. There are still openings available if you think you may want to join us.
We are also looking for sponsors in the community. If you would be interested in donating to this worthwhile event please contact Chris Besaw at waseb@yahoo.com.
